Lynn Painter - Stainers Prize 2016..

The Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize was created in 2005 by the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers and the Lynn Foundation to encourage the very best creative representational painting and promote the skill of draughtsmanship. With prize money of £30,000, the Prize is one of the most prestigious awards to artists in the UK.

The Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers 
Formed in 1502 by the amalgamation of companies in existence before 1283, the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers is actively engaged in supporting the art and craft of painting. With a strong commitment to fine art, the Painters’ Company is delighted to sponsor this annual prize.

The Lynn Foundation 
The Lynn Foundation is a charity devoted to children, the disabled, music and the arts. Its contribution is the prize money totalling £25,000 and an engraved gold medal for the winner of the First Prize.
First Prize: £15,000
5 Runner-Up Prizes: £1,500 each
Young Artist Award: £2,500 (For an artist who is 25 years of age or under)
Brian Botting Prize for Works of the Human Figure*: £5,000 (For an artist who is 30 years of age or under)

*Brian Botting, Master of the Painter-Stainers’ Company from 2003-04, has kindly bequeathed a £5,000 annual prize to be awarded to an artist aged 30 or under for an outstanding representation of the human figure. 

The judges will be looking for work that demonstrates the very best in creative representational painting and promotes the skill of draughtsmanship. The judges’ decision will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into. The 2016 judges are:

Approximately 100 works will be exhibited at the Mall Galleries, London and on tour.

Before entering, artists must read the Rules & Guidelines. 
Artists can initially submit up to 4 works through an online entry process. Entry is £15 per work (£8 per work for students).

DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: 16 December 2015, by 5pm (GMT) 


The panel of judges will review all entries from the digital submission process. Artists will be notified their decision by 8 January 2016. Approximately 200 artists will then be invited to deliver their actual works on 16 January 2016 to the 
Federation of British Artists (FBA), 
17 Carlton House Terrace, 
London SW1Y 5BD, 
for the final judging. Only works shortlisted from the initial digital submission will be received for final judging. These works will only be accepted at the submission point with fully completed entry forms and labels, which will be emailed to artists following the initial judging. Please note that notification of all results will be sent by email only. Artists will be notified of the final decision by 19 January 2016.

A list of approved art carriers who can offer collection and delivery services should you be selected to bring your works to London for the final judging will be available to all shortlisted artists.

Following the final judging, works not selected for the final exhibition will be available for collection on 22 January 2016 from the 
Federation of British Artists (FBA),
