General Information
The Rotary Cartoon Awards is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City Inc., (the Rotary Club)

The competition commenced in 1989 and is run by the Bunker Cartoon Gallery Inc., a not- for-profit, registered charity established by The Rotary Club in 1995. Sponsorship of the Awards by Coffs Harbour Rotary Clubs and other valuable community sponsors enables the Awards to continue into its 27th year and beyond.

The aim of the Awards is to promote cartooning, cartoon artists, Australia’s only cartoon gallery, The Bunker Cartoon Gallery, and to further establish the City of Coffs Harbour as the ‘Cartoon Capital of Australia’.

The competition attracts entries from the best of Australian cartoon, comic strip and caricature artists. Cash prizes and trophies are awarded in six categories and one category winning work will receive the prestigious Rotary ‘Cartoon of the Year’ Award.
Entrants into Awards agree to donate all works entered into the Coffs Cartoon Collection for 
exhibition at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery or other venues throughout Australia. 
Entrants retain copyright and grant permission to the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City and the Bunker Cartoon Gallery Inc. for their works to be exhibited, copied, reproduced onto promotional items, and for copies to be offered for sale at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery any time in the future.
The 27th Rotary Cartoon Awards is conducted in association with the Australia Cartoonists' Association.

Best Cartoon - Open Theme 1st: $1000 Merit: $500
Best Cartoon - Sports Theme 1st: $1000 Merit: $500
Best Cartoon – TRAINS, BOATS &/or PLANES 1st: $1000 Merit: $500
Best Caricature of a well-known person 1st: $1000 Merit: $500 Best Comic Strip 1st: $1000 Merit: $500

Rotary 2015 Cartoon of The Year
One cartoon will be selected from the winning entries in all categories as the
This prize, which includes the category prize, is a total of $3,000.
The winner will be presented with a special
Rotary 2015 ‘Cartoon of the Year’ Trophy.

1. The 27th Rotary Cartoon Awards is ONLY open to residents of Australia over the age of 18 years.
2. There are no restrictions on the number of entries submitted and entries may be either previously published or unpublished.
3. Entries must not have been previously entered in the Rotary Cartoon Awards.
4. Entries must not be able to be deemed offensive to others.
5. Entrants are asked to title their own works and to specify in which category or categories the work is entered.
6. Entries submitted must not be framed or on canvas as they will be hung in the Bunker’s own frames.
7. Entries may either be sent via post, digitally via email, or hand-delivered to the Bunker Cartoon
Gallery, Coffs Harbour. Entries must be sent prior to the closing date and late entries may not be accepted. To facilitate processing by our volunteers early entries are greatly appreciated.

Hardcopy entries: 
All entries submitted in hardcopy by post or delivered must be originals, either in colour or black & white. 
Entries must be clearly labelled with the entrant’s name, address, telephone number and email address. 
This information must be written in pencil in the top left-hand corner on the reverse of the work, beneath the title of the work. A completed entry form should accompany works. If submitting multiple entries only one entry form is required to cover all works.

Digital entries: 
All entries must be sent in 300dpi, JPEG format, and may be either A4 (210mm x 197mm) or A3 (420mm x 297mm) in either colour or black and white. 
Entrants are asked to specify the size for printing. Entries should be sent as an attachment to an email and a completed entry form also attached. If submitting multiple entries only one entry form is required to cover all works.
8. Entrants retain copyright of their entered works and grant The Bunker Cartoon Gallery Inc. permission to exhibit and reproduce the works in a catalogue or similar, onto cards or in an electronic format, and may be copied or used at the Rotary Club’s discretion, any time in the future, including copies offered for sale through the Bunker Cartoon Gallery in Australia.

9. The organisers will appoint suitable judges. Judges will not be eligible to enter the competition. 
The decision of the judges will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
10. Winners of the 2015 Awards will be announced on 18th July, 2015 at the Awards Presentation evening at the Bunker Cartoon Gallery. All entrants, friends and family are cordially invited to attend the Awards Presentation evening event. Finalists will be advised prior to the event.
11. Entry to the Awards will be taken as an agreement to accept these rules and entry conditions. Issue Date: 12 March 2015
