The Musée des Maîtres et Artisans du Québec  will hold the exhibition of the cartoons and illustrations of Behzad Ghafarizadeh and Oleg Dergachov with title of Artoon (Art+Cartoon) from 8th Jan. to 8th Feb. 2015. The exhibition includes 50 cartoons and illustration of these two artists with different techniques.

Cette exposition présente des œuvres récentes de deux artistes montréalais de l’illustration, Behzad GHAFARIZADEH et Oleg DERGSCHOV    . Ces bédéistes de renommée internationale nous présentent leurs dessins engagés, teintés d’humour. En plus des illustrations, DERGSCHOV    nous présentera quelques pièces tridimensionnelles suivant les grandes lignes de sa démarche. Les paroles de GHAFARIZADEH expriment bien l’essence de l’exposition présentée :
« Le dessin humoristique utilise un langage international pour exprimer croyances et émotions, un langage sans frontière, ni nationalité. »

This exposition will feature two Montréal cartoon artists, Behzad GHAFARIZADEH and Oleg DERGSCHOV    . These international illustrators will present humoristic and politicize pieces. DERGSCHOV    will also present a few sculptures.As GHAFARIZADEH said:
“Cartoons are an international language to express beliefs and emotions, a language without border or nationality.“

Biographies / Biography                
Né en 1983 à Téhéran, Iran, Behzad GHAFARIZADEH développe son intérêt pour le dessin humoristique lors de son enfance. Il a été l’investigateur de la première exposition de ce genre dans son pays d’origine en 2006, expérience qu’il décrit comme étant « la chose la plus importante de ma vie, qui m’a permis de cultiver mon vif désir de poursuivre ma carrière en tant que bédéiste suite à une rencontre avec mon collègue KambizDerambakhsh. »

Born in 1983 in Tehran, Iran, Behzad GHAFARIZADEH started cartooning when he was a child. He held the first individual cartoon exhibition in Iranian House of Cartoons in Tehran in 2006, describing it as“the most important thing in my life and caused meto have powerful eagerness to continue this way as a cartoonist aftermeeting the great Iranian cartoonist Kambiz DERAMBAKHSH”.

Natif d’Ukraine, l’artiste Oleg DERGSCHOV     s’établit à Montréal en 2005. Depuis 1987, l’artiste expose dans des expositions nationales et internationales en peinture, sculpture, dessin, gravure et livre d’artiste. Il est aussi connu à l’échelle mondiale à titre de bédéiste en plus d’être récipiendaire de nombreux prix et distinctions.

Born in Ukraine, Oleg DERGSCHOV    establishedhis family in Montréal in 2005. Since 1987, he held national and international exhibitions featuring artist’s catalogs, paintings and sculptures, sketched and engraved pieces. He is recipient of numerous awards and distinctions internationally.

Oleg DERGSCHOV                         

Oleg DERGSCHOV was born on 18th July 1961 in Rostov, Russia. He graduated from the Ukrainian Academy of Fine Arts with Master in Arts degree in 1984
He has also studied bronze and granite sculpture from the INTEGRART in Warszaw, and through his studies with Walter Kaune, Phd, in Goslar, Germany
In 2005 he moved with his family to Canada. He had over 20 personal cartoon exhibitions in 13 countries. 
Many of his works are parts of major international public collections such as the National British Library in London, the Georges Pompidou National Center for Art and Culture in Paris, the Tretyakov State Gallery in Moscow and the collection of Cirque du Soleil in Canada.
His artworks have been awarded in many important international cartoon competitions such as Aydin Dogan (2005), NasreddinHoja (2000), Youmiuri (1998-1995) and more than 60 other competitions.

Behzad GHAFARIZADEH                
Behzad GHAFARIZADEH was born in September 1983 in Tehran Iran
He graduated from University of Tehran in 2009 with Master’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering. 
He and his wife moved to Montreal in 2011 In order to continue their education. Currently, he is PhD candidate in mechanical engineering department of École de technologiesupérieure (Université du Québec). 
In 2006, his first individual cartoon exhibition was held in the “Iranian House of Cartoon” in Tehran
His works have already been exhibited in many international cartoon exhibitions and published in many cartoon books. 
His cartoons also are awarded in many important cartoon competitions such as Global Editorial Cartoon competition (2012),  Diogenes, Taborda festival (2009), Medplan (2014) and etc.
